Short Biography:
Janet Bettag is a career administrative professional, freelance editor and award winning
writer. Her debut book, Normal, is a narrative nonfiction account of her experiences
surviving and recovering from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. Janet’s published works
also include magazine articles and book reviews. Her professional affiliations include
membership in the St. Louis Writers' Guild, the Wee Writers of St. Charles, and the
Missouri Writers' Guild.

Janet Bettag is a career administrative professional, freelance editor and award winning
writer. Her debut book, Normal, is a narrative nonfiction account of her survival of and
recovery from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. A portion of the proceeds from the book are
donated to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation to help fund patient support as well as
research focused on early detection and prevention of ruptures.
Originally from Clarksville, Missouri, Janet grew up in a suburb of St. Louis, attending
Hazelwood Central High School and the University of Missouri - St. Louis. She began
writing as a child and her poetry was published in a small literary publication before she
graduated from high school.
During her career as an administrative professional, Janet has provided marketing, public
relations, and sales support to manufacturers, retail distributors, and an accounting firm.
She served more than seventeen years as the administrative assistant to a municipal
police chief before retiring to purse writing full time. As a contributing writer for Woods
& Irons Magazine, a publication of the Gateway PGA Foundation, she wrote feature
articles on a variety of topics loosely related to the sport.
Janet currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Writers’
Guild. She is also an active member of the St. Louis Writers’ Guild and the
Wee Writers of St. Charles.
